Tennis today is a very different game from the French palm game that started it. As the name suggests the French game was played with hands not rackets by. About 1,400 wooden bats had replaced hands sand a game resembling tennis emerged in the 16-th century. It was played indoors with rackets then about 300 years later a British Army officer Walter Windfield adapted the game to outdoors creating lawn tennis as it is known now.
