Venice stands on 118 islands connected by 150 channels. The largest of these, the Canal Grande, extends for 4 km. Through the famous canals of the old city, nowadays there are more than four hundred bridges. Venice is located in the north of Italy, on the Adriatic shore of the lagoon. Just 35 km from the town is the famous resort of Lido di Jesolo, with its golden sandy beaches and a special mild microclimate.
